The Lord of Transformation - Part II - Ivo Sasek - Elaion-Verlag

Transformed Village Life (by Jan-Henoch, age 17) In August 2007 a mountain-race was taking place in Walzenhausen again after a break of over 20 years. Thousands of visitors, hundreds of vehicles to be seen: the mega event. The start was right in front of our house with the Panorama café. My dad had offered the organization as sponsor to professionally film the 2-day-event for free, including the production of a DVD on this “historical mountain-sprint” (see photo gallery No.10). This huge offer which was meant to only profit the organizational committee was however immediately replied to by a 6-pages-long legal contract. The most important thing for the writer of the contract seemed to be the guarantee not to mention the mountain-sprint association in any relation to Panorama-Film. Everything becomes very complicated once you’ve been given the sect-stamp. The contract therefore contained many restrictions and severe warnings. Panorama-Film for example was supposed to sign the contract to obscure conditions, if several points in the contract would not be kept, a fine and damages of 10.000 up to 50.000 francs would have to be paid by us! It started with leaving out our name from the sponsor-list and ended with especially painful points, in which among other things, even the name Panorama-Film wasn’t to be mentioned at all … It seemed as if we would never ever get rid of the sect-status in the village of Walzenhausen. As an answer to that my dad just turned the tables on them and wrote an own contract. In its beginning there was quite a lot of scolding, then he listed his own conditions and ended with the words: “Like any other sponsor … I at least want to be duly mentioned for my sponsoring, but now not any55
