Transformed Attitude in Serving (by Joschua, age 19) Compared to the beginning of our rehabilitation work when we found the participants literally sleeping over the broom in their hands, under their beds or in the closet, now there is no place for such an attitude in our midst anymore. With the new hands-up-principle we bring a sudden end to every kind of sparing oneself. Some years ago (in 2008) I discovered the following principle for doing the dishes with my four younger siblings: to achieve the goal more efficiently: in the beginning all of the volunteers stand still for a second. After defining a common time goal we lift our hands up in the air as a sign of willingness and call out: „Ready, set, go!” Then we tackle work as a troop with a big vision! Our project days, training camps and the building up of the technical equipment and removing the same on events, equal an anthill, just full of energetically tackling ants. But not only all lack of diligence, but also every individualistic thinking we were able to let renew! Individuals do not press ahead with their projects in every detail anymore while the others with the more important projects are still at laying the foundations! If everyone only focuses on the overall aim and puts his own ideas and interests last for the sake of the best of the whole, then we have the right priorities, move mountains of work within minutes and leave lasting works. That fascinates me! Transformed Hall-Administrators (by Lois, age 24) 20 tons of wooden panels were piled up on pallets before me. Crowds of people were already on their way to the hall 49
